Weihai Economic & Technological Development Zone was established in October 1992 under the approval of the State Council. It is located in the south suburb of Weihai city, which is the first national environmental city, model city of environment protection, and one of the model cities most suitable for human habitation. It has 3 subdistrict offices, 2 townships and 94 natural villages under its jurisdiction, with a total programmed area of 194 km2 and a population of 100 thousand within its boundary.
